Running
I run. Because I love to feel the world moving more slowly than I am. I used to think I ran to run away from rage or frustration or angst, but I have come to realize that it's by running that I finally deal with those emotions, process them and eventually embrace them. Running, I almost never think about the fact that I am doing so. My mind wanders to unfinished conversations, perplexing interactions, worrisome details that I need to sort out. Running, I'm in the zone, which is an ethereal and tenuous place. The wisdoms that occur to me as I glide along a country highway or down an urban boulevard are not utterable. Running is a supra-linguistic state.
